Program Outline:

The 6-week course will look into the details of the different finance products promoted to the Muslim community as 'Shariah-compliant', and provides an evidence- based assessment of them for the general public who are not accustomed to the complex jurisprudential principles and laws guiding finance and trade in the Islamic Tradition. The course also includes:

- Jurisprudence of Trade
- Jurisprudence of Loans
- Underlying Principles of Trade & Loans
- Evidences of Jurisprudential Non-Compliance
- Case Studies of Current Finance Products
- A Way Forward: A Solutions-based Proposal

This elective is part of the credit points towards the Foundations Diploma award. However, it is NOT a pre-requisite to attend this course and is open to the public.
